I always felt riding on a carousel was magical…
This colorful Carousel painting is the latest in my fae character series, Wildish Spirits. It is a bit different as the setting is not in a forest. It is a convergence of my dreams and childhood memories. I have loved clowns since I was a little girl. (Not the creepy kind.) The more feminine, Pierrot clowns are my favorite and I had a collection of clown figurines and masks, until fairies kind of took over. 🙂
This painting was created in quite a few layers, with the tiny horse on her shoulder added towards the end of the painting. The sketch of the fae character is from my sketchbook, created a couple of years ago. It took me a while to complete this one, about two months instead of my usual one month. I found myself taking long breaks between the layers, even painting a few small canvases in-between, and thinking a lot about placement, texture, and color selection.
This painting is 16″ x 20″, acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas.
I would love to hear your thoughts…
