New Jewelry Pieces for Open Studios Tour

I’ve been a busy bee getting ready for our upcoming studio tour.  Here are a few pictures of the jewelry pieces I have created for the show.  I have combined some of my vintage treasures with my favorite crystal, rhinestone and pearl beads.  If you aren’t local and are interested in a piece, you can see more pictures and purchase from my online store here.

Rainbow Tulip Painting for Art Auction and Studio Tour

I am just finishing up this painting of a colorful rainbow tulip to donate to the art auction for the Open Studios Tour.  The art auction will be held on Friday evening to kick-off the weekend event.    The tour is on June 4-5, 11 Am – 5 PM and I will have my studio open on both days.

The Friday evening event “An Evening of Art,” will be held at the Art Space gallery, 2605 N. Lake Avenue, Altadena, CA from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM. It is sure to be a great evening with over 50 artists participating and we will all be at the event to visit with attendees and answer questions about our work.  You will also be able to pick up your Art Tour booklet and map.

The studio is beginning to clean itself… Well, a girl can wish!! 🙂  I pulled out a broom this morning and suddenly, all my fairy friends disappeared.  I suppose I will be sweeping up all those beads I dropped and cleaning off my beading table (beads just seem to multiply) as well as dusting off my easel, all by self.      I have finished a few paintings and I am hoping to finish another large size painting of one of my Fae characters.  Here is a picture of my progress… I still have a lot more to do!

A Look Into My Art Studio

December Greetings,

I’ve been away from my blog for a bit as I have been super busy, lately.  In  November, I was  finishing paintings and getting ready for our Open Studios Tour for the first weekend of December.  After that,  I became super busy with decorating the house before my daughter got home from school, getting Christmas gifts wrapped and in the mail, and finishing up a painting commission.   Well, things have finally settled down a bit and I have turned on my laptop for the first time in weeks!  OpenStudiosDec2015_3

I hope you have been enjoying the holiday season. I’ve seen a few blog posts via my phone, but I look forward to catching up with everyone over the next few weeks.

We are certainly enjoying having our daughter home for the holidays.  Just something about having her under the same roof brings a smile to my face.OpenStudiosDec2015_5

These are a few pictures from the December Open Studio’s Tour.  It went really great!  I had quite a few people come through on both days and met a lot of new art enthusiasts.  On Sunday, I even had a bit of a crowd at one point and people were elbow to elbow in my little studio.  Thanks to everyone who stopped by and all those who purchased my art.  I am so thankful!

Take a good look at these pictures as my studio will not be this clean and organized EVER AGAIN!  And no peeking under that table-cloth! 🙂OpenStudiosDec2015_6  I have been doing larger paintings this year and I am really enjoying working on a bigger canvas. As someone said during the tour: “Your big eyes are getting bigger.” It was really fun to watch people’s reactions to my work.  Especially when they spotted the fairy among all the birds in “Morning Chit Chat.” It’s pretty cool to hear people discuss your art and observe aspects that you are not fully aware of or that come from your subliminal or intuitive thoughts.  I enjoyed discussing my paintings and explaining my art process with everyone.

As you can see from the picture below, I finished the Fae character and fawn painting I have been working on over the past few months.  She is called “DOE,” and “FAWN” will be my first painting in 2016.  I will photograph my “DOE” painting next week and share more pictures in January. OpenStudiosDec2015_4

The bright green bins on the upper shelf are my way of organizing all the art workshops I teach.  I have a bucket for each type of workshop supplies.  The system seems to be working and it got a ton of things off the floor of my studio.  A good thing since I was always tripping over something. 🙂 OpenStudiosDec2015_2 I did sell my most favorite assemblage jewelry piece, but I know it went to someone who loved it as much as I did! 🙂 I also introduced prints of my Woodland Animals series that I created for my niece’s baby last year.  It was a busy few days and it looks like I will have lot’s to do in January!

I wish you a wonderful holiday season and will see you in 2016!
